I grew up with the family and relatives, who love, adore and make a living with the soil, farming is the name. I studied agriculture and have experienced working with the farmers shared my technical and acquire knowledge regarding agricultural production. That was ages ago, and I miss it badly. Then, working in the academe for years, instead of tilling lands, I was toiling the vast of economics to knowledge hungry students. I left that dearest career for better dreams and cross the pacific seas to the continent of snow rich land.
Now, I am stuck to this cold city, live in a place where spaces are price according to square footage. The bigger the better but bitter to our pockets, we have a 2 X 4 meters patio and gardening is a pain in the heart if that’s your precious space to breathe. We only have at least 6 to 8 months to enjoy the planting fever, after that froze will beat you. Since, we have limited space and no ground soil to have a small vegetable or greenery to indulge. What I did is re-using all empty cans even ice cream cans as pots. Yes! These are for recycle bin but I have to make use of it than buying a classy or pretty pots.

I was not surprised reading the free-range kid columns circling in the Internet and newspapers these days. In fact, I am glad that at last some parents in these rich neighborhoods are doing something not unusual to the developing countries. I am one of the free-range kids, my sister, hundred of my cousins, neighbors and friends. Until now even the world is getting crazy of drugs, kidnapping and together walk with some bad free-range kids. I could still see thousands of kids let alone mind their business particularly when going to school or do some errands miles from their homes.
I have met many mothers in this country and shared them the story of free-range kids. In my humble country, kidnapping a free walking kid is just a pain in the ass because you have to feed them and listen to their ever torturing questions why taking them away from their family. There will be no ransom happening because the kid family is poor, so why bother? Kidnapping for ransom is famous amongst the rich families. Pirates do the same, right!
I spare the question if you will ask. Am I willing to let my son roam around as far as 5 meters out from my sight? My answer is BIG no way. Not in this country, I don’t know why? I’m scared to loose and lose my son here than in my country. My friends’ children and my families’ kids are still roaming around the vicinity in my country even farther, and there is nothing happen. Here???!!!

I am hoping to spend time with my son in the zoo today unfortunately the weather is not celebrating for mother earth. It’s windy and chilly outside, we could go somewhere lively though BUT I am afraid of the swine flu virus. My feet are itching to go somewhere, grrrrr, why virus? Why ruining our day? Staying at home is advisable during these days, but if your staying at home for the last 18 months. I bet! You will be disappointed.

It’s Mother’s Day once again, please count me in! But I’d rather celebrate the day with my Mother than for myself. Too bad, we are thousand miles apart. We usually sent our greetings through text messaging and card, this time I hope it will be more high tech using 3G cellular phone. My hubby also is bugging me when will be the Mother’s day because he owes me my Valentine’s Day. See, this is what will happen if you marry a super romantic man. I’m no Juliet to Romeo and I hate these sweet smooching dates. Errrr! Yes! I am a witch.

We have had difficulties in life, lately we are battered with financial meltdown, politics, bail-out and the famous swine-flu. I am one of the affected casualties of these cruel economies, I thought that nothing will change to our economic environment or world ambience per se, I was wrong because things like new or old will come and go. Lately, the sea pirating and swine flu are swarming like crazy. Universe is really moving and alive.

When we have limited budget that is usually use most for our rent, utilities and the remaining dime is for the food. Many are thinking twice whether to spend money for food or rent first, most likely we opt to pay the rent first then food. Our last cents usually buys only the cheapest non-nutritious foods. Can goods that taste good and are rich in sodium, saturated fat and sugar. So what is eating bad food than being hungry? I’m afraid that both will go hand-in-hand.

Why marriage life is always branded with ultimate happiness? I have spoken to one of my best friends last night who is currently in Ireland doing a compassionate missionary work. I asked her if she’s sold out of the idea of being in the single blessedness station. She cried out loud, I am looking for companion and happiness, and she thought that these could be found in marriage. But man and marriage are big dreams that have been elusive to her.
Then, today I read from the lifestyle section of the newspaper, a woman is discerning to marry because she thought that happiness is in marriage. I hope that these bored individuals are not on the state of desperation. I am happily married to a romantic, caring, loving and a great provider man with our son. Yes, I am happy, very happy with my life today. But happiness in marriage is not as easy as laughter, security and fulfilled.
